Not the way I wanted to start this trip

It's now 7:40 and Roxanne is in the shower. Rather than getting here at noon like she was supposed to, she got here at 6:30 pm. That is becuase she didn't leave her house until after 11 and she said the normally 4 hour drive took 6. We packed the truck, and if I do say so myself we did a pretty impressive job. There is still room after all my junk, her junk, and the water heater. Yay!

When she gets out of the shower it will be time to leave. I figure it will be after 8 when we leave and since Pennsic is a 5.5 hour drive that's 1 am even if we don't stop anywhere. Since I know we have to stop for gas at least once (if not twice) and she's feeding me dinner (not going to be satisfied with dashboard diner - sorry) it will probably be more like 2 -2:30. Then we get to unload, set up two tents and collapse. Tomorrow morning I get to turn around and come back. Fortuantley though we did mangage to get everything I need for next week into the truck so I don't have to drive back here. I have to go to Mom and Dad's to pick up the cake for class then to Sterling to get ready for class. I really need to be off site by noon at the latest.

Schedule update

I talked to Brenna and told her I probably wouldn't be able to show on Wednesday night. So I have one more night to do stuff :)

I'm feeling like a bad Aunt. Mom told me this morning that today was Ashley's Birthday. I had forgotten. :( what's more I will neither see her or have a gift for her until after Pennsic.

Schedule

Okay So I'm leaving for Pennsic in T minus 46 hours. Then I have to come home again to work...Then I get to go back. Here's my schedule. I warn you now this is subject to change on a daily basis:


Thursday 8/1/02Leave work, go home and start packing for pennsic. In process rearrange room to get find all the stuff I need.


Friday 8/2/02 Continue process from 8/1. Go into higher mode of panic, try to find red leather bodice


Saturday 8/3/02 Clean out back of truck. Take all the stuff I need to take to Pennsic in this load downstairs. Unearth water heater. Wait for Roxanne to get to my place. Help Roxanne fit everything in back of truck. Take off for 5 hour drive to Pennsic while Roxanne rests in passengar seat. Get to Pennsic. Check in. Help set up camp


Sunday 8/4/02Do whatever I can to help set up camp. Leave at noon. Drive to Mom and Dad's house to pick up cake that Mom is baking to save me time. Drive to Sterling, make frostings for Monday night class, make some flowers, pack truck for Monday, Snuggle with cats.


Monday 8/5/02Work, last cake class, go see my sweetie


Tuesday 8/6/02Leave work, go make marzipan and hard candy jewels


Wednesday 8/7/02Go home, help Brenna organize basement (in honor of roommate happiness), gather anything that didn't make first Pennsic trip


Thursday 8/8/02Finish any Marzipan artwork that hasn't been finished. Make frostings/marzipan. Bake cake?

Friday 8/9/02Bake, cool and frost cake. Clean kitchen again (need I say that I am cleaning kitchen after every step here?)


Saturday 8/10/02Cover cake in Marzipan, paint with luster dust, mount jewels, pipe bezzels, clean kitchen, pack truck, look at clock - depending on what time it is decide if driving to Pennsic that night

Sunday 8/11/02If haven't gone to Pennsic yet get up before crack of dawn and drive to Pennsic. Get to camp, get organized, attend 1 pm class on Iris beadflower making, 3 pm Barony meeting, Dinner, Lusty Wench Party, collapse, sleep

Monday 8/12/02Opening ceremonies of Pennsic, afternoon wedding setup/wedding/reception, Hell Party, collapse, sleep

Rest of Pennsic Whatever happens, happens.

Is it time for Vacation yet?

Mom took the insanity cakes in to work yesterday. She said that she got raves. Several people asked if she was willing to make stuff for pay. The Pics of the cakes are here. I went through and named each cake picture and indicated which one of us did it. I feel bad because I only decorated 5 of the cakes, but Tuesday night I had to go over to my friend's house, clean her kitchen and make her welcome home cake.

The Alexandria Scottish Festival Rocks!

One thing led to another and I didn't make it to the festival on Saturday. I did make it on Sunday however. I loved it. Mac, Rick and Mac's Dad met me there and we walked around for a while before sitting under the music tent for the rest of the day. I was running late so I caught the wrong shuttle bus going to the site. Rather than going directly to the site, which would have allowed me to see Clandestine's first set, I caught one that was going away from the site and had to sit for 20 mins at the Metro station. So I ended up seeing the last 1/2 song of their first set. I did get to see their 2nd set, and want to go to Rockville to see them in August. We also saw Bad Haggis and the Glengherry Bhoys. (links to websites to come). As much as the timing of this event sucks (2 weekends before Pennsic) I will continue to go because I always find a new music I love there.
